Refer a friend: a reward paid with someone else's risk
Referral programmes reward a player for bringing others to sign up, and sometimes reward the newcomer too. For the operator it is a cheap way to acquire players. For you there are two things to understand: the payout mechanics, which are usually more conditional than they look, and the ethics — because what you are offering a friend is a risky activity that is restricted or prohibited in some countries. Referral terms for M777, if a programme exists, are set by the operator.
How referral typically works
- You get a referral link or code from your account.
- The friend registers through the link or enters the code.
- The friend must meet an activity condition — verification, a deposit or a certain amount staked.
- Once met, the reward is credited, often as bonus funds with wagering.
Note step three: your reward depends on how much your friend plays. That is where the ethical question begins.
Account limits and anti-abuse rules
Operators usually forbid referring your own accounts, limit accounts per household or device, and review suspicious sign-up patterns. Breaches can void rewards and close accounts. Referring someone who lives with you or shares a device often triggers a review even when intentions are innocent.
The reward's own mechanics
A referral reward paid as bonus funds is bound by wagering, counting games and a maximum bet like any other bonus. A reward that looks generous can be worth little if the wagering is heavy or limited to high-volatility games. The calculation is explained on the wagering page.
An ethical question worth asking
Referring a friend means inviting someone you know into an activity that always favours the house over time. Some people are more vulnerable to gambling problems than they appear. Before sharing a referral link, ask yourself: would I still feel comfortable if this friend lost money, or if their habit turned into a problem? If the answer is uncertain, the reward is not worth it.
If a friend starts to struggle
If someone you referred begins to gamble too much, non-judgemental support helps more than a lecture. Share the Responsible Gambling page and free services such as Gambling Therapy. Back to all bonus types.
