VIP programme: loyalty rewards with a price tag
VIP and loyalty programmes award points and tiers based on play, then trade those tiers for perks: higher cashback, exclusive promotions, different withdrawal limits or a personal account manager. For the operator, they are a way to keep the players who stake the most. This page explains how points work, what a tier is likely to cost, and why VIP status deserves a cautious look. Points come from stakes, not wins
Nearly every loyalty scheme counts points from total stakes. Winning or losing does not matter; volume does. Some programmes weight games differently, for example slots above table games. So climbing a tier means putting more money through the games — and more money through the games means a larger expected loss.
Pricing a tier
Hypothetically, the next tier requires 10,000 units of stakes. On a game with a 96% RTP, the expected loss on that much wagering is about 400 units. If the perks of that tier — extra cashback, say — are worth much less than 400 units to you, deliberately chasing it is a losing decision. VIP perks make sense only as a side effect of play you had already planned, never as a goal.
Typical perks
- Higher cashback or rebate percentages.
- Members-only promotions or free spins.
- Different withdrawal handling or limits — set by the operator.
- A dedicated support contact or account manager.
Perks paid as bonus funds still carry wagering; see the wagering page.
Warning signs in VIP marketing
An account manager who reaches out with offers when you have not played for a while, a "special" bonus after a heavy loss, or encouragement to raise deposit limits are marketing practices aimed at the most active players — including the most vulnerable. If you are offered VIP status, pause and look at your records: how much money and time have you spent this month, and does it fit your limits? If not, consider a cooling-off period or self-exclusion — see the limits page.
